Defender set for eye surgery

Charlton defender Christian Dailly faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a fractured eye socket. The 36-year-old suffered the injury in a clash of heads during Charlton's Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Dagenham & Redbridge last week. Dailly played on with the problem against Dagenham, but was forced to miss Saturday's defeat to Exeter. The former Rangers and Blackburn man is set to undergo an operation on Wednesday and he is set to be ruled out of action for five weeks. "He will have an operation on Wednesday and will miss four to five weeks," Addicks boss Phil Parkinson told the South London Press. "The good thing is that because of the nature of the problem, after a few days' rest he'll be able to do physical work, so when he comes back he should be as close to match fit as possible."
