Addicks lining up McLeod bid

Skysports.com understands that Charlton are favorites to sign MK Dons striker Izale McLeod.

Charlton are leading the chase to sign MK Dons striker Izale McLeod.

The 22-year-old hit-man, who has netted 54 goals in 105 starts for The Dons, is being lined up as a straight replacement for Darren Bent, who recently joined Spurs in a £16.5million deal.

McLeod's agent Gino Culbertson confirmed that if the clubs can agree a fee in the region of £1million then the striker will be heading to The Valley.

"I'm hoping things will progress over the next few days. We have been through the preliminaries and are at the point now where we're waiting for a firm bid to come forward," Culbertson told skysports.com.

"Dons chairman Pete Winkelman has been very fair about things and realises that Izale's future lays elsewhere, and it looks as if he will have a good choice of a new club as there are a number of sides competing for his signature if the money is right."

McLeod joined the MK Dons on a free transfer from Derby in 2004 and previously played in the Championship for Sheffield United.
