Young hails Pardew

Luke Young believes Alan Pardew has instilled a real sense of belief at Charlton.

Luke Young believes Alan Pardew has instilled a real sense of belief in the Charlton camp.

The Addicks have endured a season of turmoil, as Pardew is their third manager of the season after Iain Dowie and Les Reed failed to convince the club's paymasters of their ability to take Charlton forward.

Charlton are still ensconced in a relegation battle, but they thumped fellow strugglers West Ham at the weekend and Young feels they can stave off the threat of relegation.

"The team spirit is definitely stronger than it has been all season, that is very clear," Young told the South London Press.

"There seems to be a lot more leadership and direction under Alan Pardew.

"The fans, players and club are all together again - it has been a massive factor in restoring our belief.

"The atmosphere at The Valley is different now compared to earlier in the season.

"It was all a bit tense and negative before, but the crowd are back with us now and not getting at us.

"The players have noticed it, and it makes a massive difference to us. They have not given up on this season and neither have we."
