Palace chairman Simon Jordan labelled Charlton supporters 'morons' following The Eagles' relegation last term.
Palace need to win at The Valley on the final day of last season, but Jonathan Fortune's late goal secured a 2-2 draw and relegated Jordan's team.
Jordan believed fans revelled in Palace's misery by doing the conga, however Curbishley has stated his management team took no pleasure in their counterparts' relegation.
"Obviously there is a lot of rivalry between the two set of fans," explained Curbishley to Sky Sports News.
"Funnily enough I think it's more our way towards Palace than it is Palace towards us. I've not read Jordan's comments.
"Perhaps it upset him that people were gloating that they got relegated, but that wasn't the case from the management side I can assure you.
"I said to [Iain] Dowie I've been there as we've been down on the last game of the season. It's not a nice feeling so we certainly weren't going to rub it in."
Meanwhile, Curbishley believes Luke Young could be the man to fill England's right back role.
The Three Lions are analysing their options for upcoming World Cup qualifiers following an injury to Manchester United's Gary Neville.
The experienced campaigner has been struck down by a groin injury and Young's name has been suggested to Sven Goran Eriksson.
"Luke defends well and he gets forward too," explained Curbishley. "I think Luke will give Sven some food for thought.
"Whenever Sven or Tord Grip have watched us, Luke has played and he can't have gone unnoticed.
"He was very consistent last year and won Player of the Year for us. I am sure if he gets a chance with England he will grasp it."
