CHARLTON ACE SET FOR EXIT

KARIM BAGHERI is ready to leave Charlton Athletic, after undergoing a trial with German outfit Arminia Bielefeld.

The Iranian forward has spent six days in Germany but he is returning to his homeland to ponder his options, with a number of Arab clubs also keen to sign him.

Bagheri has failed to make a real impact at The Valley and looks unlikely to be part of Alan Curbishley's squad next season.

Meanwhile, South African striker Shaun Bartlett is sidelined for six weeks after undergoing an operation in a bid to cure a troublesome groin problem.

After playing in pain towards the end of last term, the man who bagged the Goal of the Season, against Leicester, is now out of Bafana Bafana's matches with Burkina Faso and Congo.

Bartlett completed a permanent switch to Charlton, from FC Zurich in Switzerland, after impressing during his loan stint in London.

Addicks team-mate Paul Konchesky is being tracked down by England Under-21 coach Howard Wilkinson, after a number of injuries have beset the former Leeds boss.

The full back is on holiday and may not learn of the call-up for the clash with Greece.
