Defender out for four months

Barnsley defender Jay McEveley faces four months on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery. Tykes manager Mark Robins revealed the 24-year-old, stretchered off in Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Burnley, had damaged medial knee ligaments. Robins admitted it was a major blow to lose the former Derby and Blackburn full-back "Jay has undergone an operation and we're probably looking at between three and four months. It's a big blow for us," bemoaned Robins. "It's important to get things right and we're just thankful that the injury was not more serious although losing him for three to four months is still very, very bad. We wish him a very speedy recovery." Barnsley have drafted in Wolves defender Matt Hill on an emergency one-month loan deal to help provide cover for McEveley.
