Blades keen on Cousin

Sheffield United are reportedly keen on Lens striker Daniel Cousin.

Sheffield United are reportedly fighting for the signature of Lens striker Daniel Cousin.

The Blades put seven players on the transfer list on Friday - including forwards Neil Shipperley, Steve Kabba and Geoff Horsfield - and boss Neil Warnock looks to be clearing the decks for a number of January arrivals.

Now Lens star Cousin has been linked with a move to Bramall Lane, as United look to improve their chances of salvation this season.

The Blades sent scouts to watch Cousin in action against Lyon on Sunday, and some reports even indicate that the forward met with club officials in Paris on Tuesday.

However, Warnock is likely to face strong competition from Nantes, who are prepared to use full-back Franck Signorino as a makeweight in any deal.

If Nantes fail to land Cousin in the winter transfer window, they could turn their attentions to Bordeaux's Jean-Claude Darcheville, Levante's Peguy Luyindula, Auxerre's Luigi Pieroni or Francileudo Santos of Toulouse.

Monaco star Sebastien Grax is also reputedly keen on leaving the Principality to join Nantes.
