Davis blow for Blades

Neil Warnock admits losing Claude Davis for several weeks is a major blow for Sheffield United.

Davis hurt his knee during The Blades' 1-0 victory at fellow strugglers Watford on Tuesday night and was replaced on 30 minutes.

The club record signing is due to undergo a scan to discover the full extent of the injury, with Warnock expecting Davis to be out for a few weeks.

With United battling to stay in the Premiership, Warnock concedes it is a big setback to be without the centre half.

"It is hard enough for clubs like us when you have your best players available, never mind when they are injured," said Warnock.

"Unfortunately, the injury is not a trivial one.

"It is a major blow just as losing Marlon King for the season is a blow for Aidy Boothroyd at Watford."

Meanwhile, Warnock revealed he will be heading to the continent in the coming days to check on a potential January signing.

He added: "I am loath to bring in any South Americans. I don't think they would be right for Sheffield United because I don't want to spoil the team ethic.

"But I have got a number of targets in Europe and I will be going to take a personal look at one next week.

"I want to get my priority target and also make a few changes to the squad."
