Colin Kazim-Richards is determined to repay Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock for giving him another chance in football.
The young forward joined The Blades in a surprise transfer deadline day move from Brighton & Hove Albion back in August.
He has made seven Premiership appearances for the club and scored his first goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Bolton Wanderers.
Kazim-Richards had angered his former boss at Brighton, Mark McGhee, and is now eager to prove his worth to his current manager.
"The manager said to me it's my last chance, which it was as I don't think anyone else was interested," Kazim-Richards told Sky Sports News.
"At this moment in time I'm a no one, which is right. I've got to get my head down and try to become someone.
"Full credit to the manager. He told me how it is and he told me what he wanted from me and how to do it."
After breaking his duck for The Blades, the 20-year-old now aims to justify Warnock's comments that he can become an influential performer in The Premiership.
He added: "I think I'm on the right track. I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but some of the lads and the manager do think that.
"It's just the start, one goal, and I want to try and go on and get some more."
Reflecting on his goal against Bolton, Kazim-Richards insists his attempt from the corner of the area was intended as a shot.
"It was a shot," affirmed Kazim-Richards. "Some of the lads have been trying to banter me by saying it was a cross.
"It was a shot and luckily it went in. I saw Jaaskelainen off his line and I just shouted to Christian (Nade) to lay me the ball back so I can hit it first time."
