Warnock has seen his side perform well so far this season but has seen a worrying lack of cutting edge in front of goal.
Their Worthington Cup triumph over Leeds, along with their sixth place in the league so far has not disguised the fact that The Blades need a genuine marksman up front.
Another illustration came on Saturday when Bramall Lane faithful watched some delightful football to largely boss the game against promotion favourites Ipswich Town without being able to break the deadlock.
Warnock has identified the problem, saying he is looking to bring a striker in on loan, and has admitted to enquiring about Sunderland's Kyle and Crystal Palace's Kabba.
"I've made enquiries about them both," Warnock said. "But that's all they are at the moment - enquiries, so we'll have to wait and see."
Warnock has a number of forwards in his squad but is not happy with the number of goals they are scoring.
The moves for Kyle and Kabba may have come too late however, as both of the 21-year-olds seem to be back in the plans for their respective clubs.
Kabba had an impressive loan spell at Grimsby, banging in six goals in 13 games, that led to him being recalled to Selhurst Park, while Scottish international Kyle has started to figure for Howard Wilkinson, although his goalscoring record is less impressive.
Leicester's £1 million miss-fit Benjamin has now been linked with a switch to The Steel City as Warnock desperately looks for a man to bang the goals to pull his side out of their recent slump that has seen them win just two points from the last 12.
