Wigan misfit wants club to release him so he can return to France

Wigan misfit Olivier Kapo is desperate for the Latics to release him so he can secure a move back to Ligue 1 next term. The former Birmingham winger switched to Boulogne on loan in January after falling down the pecking order at the DW Stadium. The 29-year-old, who moved to Wigan in a £3.5 million deal in July 2008, now hopes the Latics will annul the final year of his contract to allow a return to France. He told L'Equipe: "I should know more in a few days' time. My agent should be meeting the management at Wigan. I hope we can reach an agreement so that they release me.

Wish

"My wish is to stay in Ligue 1, as simple as that. I enjoy this league. I'm making this decision for my children too. "I want them to have a quality education in France." The former French international has previously been linked with Paris St Germain and admits a liking for the club. He said: "With PSG, I was close to signing there before but it never happened. I like that club and maybe this time it is the time, but it is not official and also I have a contract with Wigan, so they will have their say as well where I will be going next season."
Savoured
Kapo has also been linked with Monaco but is unlikely to be staying with Boulogne following their relegation from the French top-flight, although he savoured his spell with the club. "I've had six great months," said the former Auxerre and Juventus player. "The people of Boulogne are so nice. They welcomed me like a family member."
