Six weeks out for midfielder

Wigan star Kevin Kilbane faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a fractured cheekbone. The Republic of Ireland international sustained the injury in a collision with Sam Ricketts during Wigan's 5-0 demolition of Hull on Saturday. Latics boss Steve Bruce confirmed Kilbane is set to undergo an operation which is likely to rule him out of action for up to six weeks.

Fractured

Killer has a depression on his cheek and you don't need to be a doctor to know it's fractured," said Bruce. "He will have an operation and if all goes well he will be back in around six weeks." It means Kilbane will miss Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Montenegro next month.
