Wigan Athletic's Denny Landzaat could need surgery on his eye injury.
Landzaat fractured an eye socket against Newcastle last week and the club have sent him to a specialist.
Manager Chris Hutchings has admitted the Dutch international could now be set for a spell - at least a month - on the sidelines.
"We decided to send Denny to a specialist and he could need surgery," Hutchings said.
"We have however been told if that is the case then it will be the same length of time he would have been out recovering from blurred vision.
"We'll know more after he's seen a specialist but if surgery is agreed it will not prolong the injury that he's already got."
