Wigan winger Lee McCulloch did not suffer a broken foot on Sunday.
Wigan Athletic have allayed fears over a possible broken foot suffered by Lee McCulloch, but the winger will still be sidelined for a while after sustaining severe bruising.McCulloch was forced off in the first half of The Latics' 3-3 draw with Tottenham on Sunday and the Premiership strugglers rushed him to hospital to undergo tests.
Wigan feared the Scottish international had broken his foot, but manager Paul Jewell will be relieved to learn that McCulloch has been given the all-clear in this regard.
He will require treatment for an uncertain period of time though, due to the intensity of the bruising caused by the injury.
"Lee was in some discomfort, which is why we moved fast to get the foot scanned," said head physio Alan Tomlinson.
"It's great news nothing's broken, but because of the severity of the bruising, it's impossible to make a clear diagnosis at this stage.
"We've got a pretty good record when it comes to getting players back from injury quickly, but obviously we cannot afford to take risks, and we will be giving Lee the best possible treatment.
"Lee's upbeat himself, and is thinking positively about making a comeback as soon as possible."
Wigan have four games remaining this season and currently sit just three points above the relegation zone.
