Kirkland fears allayed

Wigan's Chris Kirkland has been released from hospital following a head injury.

Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has been released from hospital following a head injury picked up on Saturday.

Kirkland suffered concussion after taking a knock from one of his own players in The Latics' 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.

Defender David Wright collided with Kirkland while defending a Middlesbrough free-kick midway through the first half.

Kirkland was replaced by Mike Pollitt and as the former Liverpool man was transported to hospital there were fears he had suffered something serious.

However those doubts have now been allayed and the player will be fit to take a full part in training.
