Robins land Dinning

Bristol City have signed Wigan midfielder Tony Dinning on a free transfer.

Bristol City have signed midfielder Tony Dinning on a permanent deal from Championship side Wigan Athletic.

The former Wolves player signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the West Country club after joining The Robins on a free transfer.

Dinning impressed player-manager Brian Tinnion in his six appearances while on loan with the League One side recently.

The 29-year-old could make his first appearance since signing permanently when City travel to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening.

The news of Dinning's signing follows the temporary departure of left back Craig Woodman.

The 21-year-old has joined West Country rivals Torquay United on a month's loan, having recently completed a two-month loan spell with Mansfield Town.

Woodman will remain with The Gulls until the New Year after falling out of favour at Ashton Gate.
