Leeds v Wigan preview

Leeds have signed David Healy ahead of the visit of Wigan Athletic.

Leeds United have been boosted ahead of their clash with Championship leaders Wigan Athletic with the addition of striker David Healy.

The Whites have struggled for goals this season and the capture of the Northern Ireland international comes as a timely boost for manager Kevin Blackwell.

Healy completed the formalities of his undisclosed transfer to Elland Road on Friday and will come straight into the squad to face The Latics.

The 25-year-old currently has conjunctivitis, but is expected to recover to make his Leeds debut on Sunday live on Sky Sports 1.

Leeds have no fresh injury worries ahead of the clash with only long-term injury victims, Seth Johnson, Eirik Bakke and Lucas Radebe unavailable.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell is expecting a tight encounter at Elland Road despite 15 points separating the sides in the Championship table.

"It's going to be very difficult but then I haven't come across an easy game in this league yet," explained Jewell. "It's always been a tough place to go and get a win.

"You can never discount a team like Leeds, no matter what kind of run they're going through - especially playing them at Elland Road."

Jewell has no fresh injury concerns, but Gary Teale, Jason Jarrett, Per Frandsen and Nicky Eaden all remain unavailable.
