Fulham boss Felix Magath is convinced striker Ross McCormack will come good for the club this season.

Magath splashed £11million to sign McCormack from Leeds over the summer but dropped him to the bench against Millwall on Saturday after revealing the Scot was short of fitness.

However, McCormack impressed as a half-time substitute, despite Fulham slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Millwall, and could be back in the starting line-up against Wolves on Wednesday.

"I was happy with him," said Magath. "I'm convinced he will be a very important player for us this season.

"He has a lack of fitness at the moment but we will work on it. Wednesday is the next game and Ross will play a role.

"His fitness is better than before but he can improve further. I was pleased with his performance."
