Fulham defender happy with balance of the team
Aaron Hughes has been encouraged by Fulham's start to the season and is confident they can enjoy a good campaign.
The Cottagers were 5-0 winners against Norwich on the opening day and then pushed Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday before going down 3-2.
Hughes recognises that it is too early to get carried away but he feels that there are plenty of positive signs.
"We did really well against Norwich and there's a lot we can take from the Man Utd game too," the defender told the club's
official website ahead of Tuesday's Capital One Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday.
"It's been a good start, but there's a long way to go yet.
"We're solid at the back, have players with a lot of creativity in midfield and up front we can score goals - it's a nice balance.
"With that in mind, looking ahead, we could have a good season."
Character
Fulham were 3-1 down at half-time against United, but went close to snatching a late equaliser in a performance that Hughes believes once again demonstrates the team's spirit.
"We showed a lot of character at Old Trafford, but that's no surprise, we know we have that," he said.
"There's a lot of experience in the team and it's a group of players that work very well together. It's something that we have shown many times before."
Manager Martin Jol will rotate his squad against Wednesday, giving some senior players a break.
"There will be a few changes. We have 18 or 19 players," Jol said.
"They are good enough to come in for some others. I can give three or four players a rest."
