Early season form earns teenager new three-year Fir Park contract

Promising teenager Shaun Hutchinson has signed a new three-year deal with Scottish Premier League outfit Motherwell. The new deal is just reward for the 18-year-old defender who has burst onto the scene this season, netting three times in five appearances, after featuring just once last term. Manager Jim Gannon has hailed the youngster's progress and is looking forward to working with the player in the years to come. He told the club's official website: "I am delighted Shaun has signed and we've been working really hard behind the scenes to reward him for the progress he has made.

Exceptional ability

"He's only 18 but has exceptional ability and it is only right and proper that we should reward him with proper pay and security of a longer term deal. "We're looking after him now so he can concentrate on developing into the player that I think he is capable of becoming." Hutchinson added: "I am really delighted to have signed and to be playing first-team football for Motherwell. "The manager has been really good for me so far so this is definitely the place for me to learn my trade. "I've got to try and continue my early season form throughout the campaign and having my future sorted will help that." The 18-year-old is the second player this week to commit his future to Fir Park after midfielder Ross Forbes agreed a two-year contract extension on Tuesday.
