Sanchez set to strengthen

Lawrie Sanchez has vowed to strengthen his squad this week after seeing his Fulham throw away another lead.

Fulham took an early lead at Villa Park on Saturday, but Villa equalised in the 50th minute before grabbing an injury-time winner through substitute Shaun Maloney.

"We've given a lead away again and it's something that we need to stop doing," he told Sky Sports.

"When you're in the lead in the Premier League, you can't afford to come away with nothing from it and we've done that three times this season.

"Amazingly, the only time we have won a game is when we've been behind.

"We have to get back to the drawing board. Injury-wise, we've got Niemi, McBride, Bouazza and Aaron Hughes out, and we do need some more bodies in the club.

"Hopefully we'll attempt to do that this week. We aren't very far away from being decent, but we do need to turn leads into wins." Sanchez was again unhappy to see a decision go against his side - this time, a penalty shout when he felt Craig Gardner handled the ball in the area - and is set to contact referees' chief Keith Hackett to lodge a complaint.

"We could have won the game if the penalty had been given, as it should have been, at the right time. Big decisions again by referees.

"I'll have to speak to Keith Hackett again. Perhaps he'll reply to me this time." Sanchez did not have cause for complaint, however, about Chris Baird's red card.

"I'm too far away to see it, but I assume the referee thought it was a bookable challenge and a second bookable challenge is a red card.

"We didn't need it away at Villa with 20 minutes to go, but I thought we coped well with it. I thought we defended well as a unit apart from an aberration at the last minute when they stepped in and scored."
