Knight earns new deal

Zat Knight has signed a new two-year deal at Fulham.

Zat Knight has signed a new two-year deal at Fulham.

The giant defender has ended speculation over his future by inking a two-year contract extension to keep him at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2010.

Fulham boss Lawrie Sanchez is a big fan of Knight's and believes he has a key role to play in his side.

"Since I arrived at the club I've been impressed with Zat's commitment and attitude both on and off the pitch," Sanchez told the club's official website.

"He has a good understanding of the game which is reflected in his positional play.

"It's no secret that we conceded too many goals last season and that's something I'm determined to change.

"With the right back four, that will happen, and I'm sure that Zat will have a big part to play in my plans, so I'm delighted that he has committed his future to Fulham."
