Crossley targets new deal

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Crossley is hoping to earn a new deal at Craven Cottage.

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Crossley is hoping to earn a new deal at Craven Cottage.

Crossley is acting as understudy to first choice Tony Warner but manager Chris Coleman restored him to the starting line-up for Fulham's last match against Manchester United.

The former Welsh international's contract expires at the end of the season, however, Crossley confirmed he is looking to extend his career by another four years.

The 36-year-old said: "I intend to go on for another four years so why not?

"Nigel Martyn is doing fantastically well. David Seaman and Dino Zoff did it. David James is 35 and experience is important for a keeper."

Crossley also revealed he is in the process of earning coaching qualifications as preparations begin for a future away from playing although he is not thinking of taking that step just yet.

"I'm halfway through a coaching course but it will have to come later as I've got no intention of retiring," he added.
