IF YOU CAN`T STOP HIM, BUY HIM

FULHAM are rumoured to be about to boost their promotion challenge by signing Grimsby striker Jack Lester - ironically just days after the 24-year-old scored the winner against them for The Mariners.

Grimsby, who beat the West London outfit 1-0 on Saturday at Blundell Park, are keen to get something for Lester now rather than lose him for nothing on a Bosman Ruling free transfer in the summer.

Nottingham Forest are also thought to be interested in the talented forward but Mariners boss Alan Buckley said only Norwich had made an official approach which he was "not inclined to accept."

Despite having a set of forwards that includes Geoff Horsfield, Paul Peschisolido, Barry Hayles, and German international Karl-Heinz Riedle, Cottagers boss Paul Bracewell feels he needs strengthening in this area and a tally of one goal in the last eight league games would appear to back up his viewpoint.
