Argentine ready to return
Julio Arca has told
skysports.com that he is now waiting for Middlesbrough to confirm his return to the club.
The Argentine is a free agent after his previous deal with Boro expired, and a number of clubs have shown an interest.
But Arca never dismissed the chance of remaining on Teesside and, as
skysports.com revealed, he has accepted a pay cut over a potential deal.
"I spoke with the manager on Friday about football and he said that he wanted me to stay," Arca told
skysports.com.
"The pay cut is not a problem, I understand where the club is financially as Mr Gibson [Boro chairman, Steve] explained this to me personally.
"I accept the terms that the chairman offered to me but there was just one issue about the old contract which needed to be resolved.
"My advisor met with the club on Saturday and they talked about a solution, I am flexible about this.
"I am now waiting for a call from the manager to conclude things, it's up to him now."
