Boro confirm trialists

Middlesbrough have confirmed they are taking Egyptian internationals Emad Moteab and Mohammed Shawky on trial.

Middlesbrough have confirmed they are taking Egyptian internationals Emad Moteab and Mohammed Shawky on trial. Boro first moved for the pair earlier this summer, but they are finally due to link-up with the club. "Both players are expected on Teesside shortly to undergo an intensive trial at Rockcliffe Park," said a Boro statement. Egypt star Mido has since arrived at Boro and he has given the club's management a glowing reference about his international team-mates. "The sports director asked me about Moteab and Shawky and I said they are very distinguished players and are permanent members of the Egyptian national team," said Mido earlier this month. The Al Ahly duo both travelled to England on Thursday after playing for Egypt in their friendly against Ivory Coast. They have three days on Teesside to try and convince manager Gareth Southgate they are worthy of a move to the Premier League.
