Poga proud of effort

Emanuel Pogatetz feels Middlesbrough proved a point against Manchester United at the weekend.

Boro came from behind to draw 1-1 with United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

After knocking Boro out of the FA Cup last month in controversial circumstances, the Teessiders were keen on making amends - and Pogatetz feels they did.

"They also put us under a lot of pressure towards the end but you have to expect that when coming to Old Trafford," Pogatetz told the club's website.

"We wanted to prove a point. All our games against Manchester United have been very close and we knew we had a good chance of getting something if we played to our full potential."

"Every single player gave everything they had out there. We fought right to the end and I feel we thoroughly deserved the point.

"We had a great spell of possession in the second half and I think we can count ourselves a little bit unlucky that we did not go on and get all three points."

In the previous three games between the sides - United had been awarded a penalty, but Boro were denied one when John O'Shea appeared to foul Lee Dong-gook in the box.

"At Manchester United no, at the Riverside maybe yes," he said. "But that's football and you have to respect that you can't do anything about it now.
