Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini now odds-on to be next manager sacked

Manuel Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini is odds-on with Sky Bet to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job after Manchester City lost 4-2 to rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

The Chilean is now 4/5 to leave next in a market which has 'no more departures this season' priced as a 5/4 second favourite.

City were beaten 4-2 by their rivals at Old Trafford to suffer their sixth defeat in their last eight matches in all competitions.

Carlo Ancelotti is the 11/8 favourite to replace Pellegrini, with former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez priced at 5/2.

City have work to do if they are to chase home Chelsea but their Champions League qualification appears assured at 1/20 - indeed the layers think the top-four sides are set in stone with Chelsea, Arsenal, City and United all long odds-on.

"Sunday's result may not mean much in terms of who makes the Champions League next year, but it's a massive blow for City fans who may be losing faith in their manager," confirmed Sandro Di Michele.

"Certainly, the City board have shown themselves to be ruthless and the question appears to be whether Pellegrini is shown the door now or in the summer. For the first time, our odds suggest he won't make the end of the season."

While the pressure on his manager intensifies, Sergio Aguero is odds-on at 4/5 to end the season as the Premier League's top goalscorer having drawn level with Harry Kane, now a 10/11 chance.

Diego Costa's injury means he is out to 12/1 and he was missed by Chelsea as they managed just one shot on target against QPR. However, Cesc Fabregas's strike was enough to see off QPR 1-0 and the Blues are just 1/40 for the title.

That result leaves QPR as 1/7 favourites for relegation ahead of Burnley at 8/13, with Sunderland 10/11 and Leicester evens following their remarkable win at West Brom on Saturday.
