The Brazilian has made a spectacular start to his career at Chennaiyin FC, notching five goals in his first four matches to become the top scorer in the inaugural Indian Super League.

Elano is contracted to the southern Indian side managed by Marco Materazzi until December, but the dead-ball specialist is keen to play in the Premier League once again.

"It's certainly a possibility, but something like this does not depend only on me," Elano told Sky Sports.

"There has to be interest from the clubs as well but I'm doing my part. I'm working hard, I'm playing well and if returning to England is a possibility for me then I would be very interested. Generally I'm a very fulfilled guy. In my career I have done everything I set out to achieve and I have no regrets.

"But of course playing in the Premier League would be a good thing because it is one of the best in the world. I would like to come back because it could be good for me and my family, but for the moment I am just concentrating on Chennaiyin and the amazing project here in India."

Elano was one of a clutch of signings made by former Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson in the summer of 2007 when the club was under the ownership of Thaksin Shinawatra.

The 33-year-old became a fans' favourite during his two-year stay in England before leaving for Turkish giants Galatasaray in 2009 but the former Santos and Gremio midfielder revealed there is a very personal reason why he cherishes his time in Manchester.

"I have a lot of memories that I carry with me from Manchester City," he said. "But I remember them very fondly because they are the team of my daughter Marie-Theresa who is eight years old now.

"She was born when I was in Manchester and they are the team she supports. It's difficult for me to find the words to express what Manchester City means to me and my family."
