Swedish striker John Guidetti has played down comments suggesting he was bullied by senior Manchester City team-mates.
The 20-year-old has been interviewed on Swedish television show
Skavlan, which is due to be aired this weekend.
But his comments have already been reported by Swedish newspaper
Aftonbladet, with Guidetti allegedly saying he had been spat at while singling out defender Kolo Toure and Patrick Vieira, now a club executive, for ridiculing his family.
Guidetti, who is back at City after a successful loan with Dutch side Feyenoord last season, then claimed the reported quotes were misleading.
He tweeted: "U Must Be JOKING! Regarding the broken-out-of-context comments in the News on my appearance @ the TV-Show SKAVLAN.

"Annoying! Plz everybody note that I have never been spat on by anyone at the club, nor has my family ever been disrespected by the club.
"And regarding the prank in 2009 with my boots, well...and my point of standing up against fantastic players like Patrick and Kolo, are that they're very strong and tough to play against because they are so good. I've nothing but Love for #MCFC and the people there!"

Guidetti has so far made just one senior appearance for City but is seen as a future star in his homeland, making his international debut in February.
Aftonbladet reported that he told
Skavlan: "People spat at me. Team-mates took my shoes, cut them in half and threw them in the trash.
"They spoke badly and openly about my family when they were here for the first time. But they were not so smart that they knew Scandinavians speak English.
"I've approached both Kolo Toure and Patrick Vieira, who are both over two metres tall, and said 'Yo, don't talk like that about me'."
