West Midlands official to take charge of second Manchester derby

Andre Marriner has been appointed to referee the crucial Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium next Monday. The West Midlands official will take charge of arguably the biggest game of the season with Manchester City going into the game three points behind United in the race for the title. Marriner has not taken charge of a City game this season, while he has been the man in the middle for four United games this term. The 41-year-old has handed out five red cards in 19 Premier League games this season. Marriner has only previously taken charge of one Manchester derby, in February 2011, when United ran out 2-1 winners at Old Trafford.
