Mancini confirms penalty for striker over breaking club curfew

Manchester City have fined striker Mario Balotelli one week's wages for breaking a club curfew. Less than 48 hours before their clash with Bolton last week, Balotelli was pictured leaving a strip club. Balotelli played and scored in the 2-0 win over Bolton, but afterwards Mancini said he would be hitting the Italian striker with a fine. Now Mancini has confirmed that Balotelli has been disciplined.

Good behaviour

"I spoke with Mario and gave him a fine of one week's wages for what he did," Mancini said after landing in Portugal ahead of their Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday. "This is normal because every player should have good behaviour before the game." When asked if Balotelli had accepted the fine, Mancini said: "Yes." Balotelli admitted earlier in the week, he was wrong to have broken club rules.
