City defender focused on Premier League title bid

Stefan Savic admits Manchester City are following the results of Manchester United, but he insists they are inching closer to the Premier League title. The Montenegro international defender joined City last summer from Partizan Belgrade. He has made 12 appearances for Roberto Mancini's side this season and is readying himself for the Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday evening. On their battle with United, he told Serbian website B92: "We are following their games and results much more in the Premier League rather than in the Europe League. "We are trying to stay focused on our game in both competitions. Anyway, they are the ones who have to wait for our flop, but with every win we are step closer to the Premier League title." Savic admits that the clash between the two clubs next month could decide the title. "The match between us and them will be the decisive one," he added.

Europe

Savic then turned to City's European quest as they face Portuguese opposition for the second successive round. "We should expect another difficult game as with the visit to Porto," he said. "It's true that Sporting is not as strong, but they should not be underestimated. "We should take the game seriously and there shouldn't be big problems. "It will be a hard away trip, but I think that we possess the quality to win that game."
