Defender set to follow Trippier in moving to Turf Moor permanently

Eddie Howe believes Burnley are "not far away" from completing the signing of on-loan Manchester City defender Ben Mee. The 22-year-old joined the Championship club in the summer on a year-long deal having spent the second half of last season at Leicester City. Now Burnley are hoping they can get the England Under 21 international to follow the lead of Kieran Trippier in making a permanent move from City. Clarets boss Howe believes Mee would be an excellent addition to his squad as he looks to push for promotion to the top flight. "We've been in discussions with Ben and his agent, and hopefully we're not far away," Howe told the Lancashire Telegraph. "I feel he would be a terrific addition to the squad. He has got better and better since he came here." Trippier joined Burnley for an undisclosed fee at the start of January, the full-back penning a three-and-a-half year contract that will run until the end of the 2014-15 campaign.
