Striker keen to grasp his opportunity at London Road

Peterborough United have won the chase to sign Manchester City striker David Ball for an undisclosed fee. Ball has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract at London Road after spending the first half of the season on loan at League One rivals Swindon Town. He scored a brace in Swindon's 5-4 defeat at Peterborough earlier in the campaign and revealed he was attracting interest from several clubs. "I met with Darren (Ferguson) earlier in the week and am excited at the prospect of playing for Peterborough United," Ball told the club's official website.

Can't wait

"I had a few options, but I like the way Peterborough play and we are in an excellent position in the league. "I was played out of position at Swindon, I am a striker and am joining to play in that role. I can't wait to get started." Posh director of football Barry Fry added: "David came down to the ground earlier in the week and met with the management and we are delighted that it has been completed, it has taken a little while! 'The chairman Darragh MacAnthony has backed the manager once again with four signings in the transfer window, Tom Kennedy, Grant Basey, Paul Jones and David Ball. "The players that have been brought in fit our criteria, they are young, hungry and eager to learn and we are delighted to have them here at the football club."
