Alan Pardew wants Newcastle to grind out the results following their slide down the Premier League table.

One win in the last 10 games has seen the Magpies slip to 14th, just two points above the relegation zone with champions Manchester City their next opponents in a game you can see live on Sky Sports 2HD this Saturday.

This season's form is in sharp contrast with the last campaign, where Pardew piloted Newcastle into fifth position and a place in the Europa League.

But with Europe off the menu until the knock-out phase in February, the Newcastle boss wants to turn performances into points.

"We have to keep an eye on where we are," declared Pardew.

"It is difficult to get points at the minute. We're a side that on its day can beat anybody.

"We look more like a team. In the last three games the level has improved. But unfortunately we need to get results."
