Shane Ferguson hopes manager Alan Pardew continues to show him faith despite the mixed emotions of the Newcastle youngster's return to Premier League action.
Having not featured in the top flight since the game against Norwich in early December, the Northern Ireland international was introduced at half-time of Saturday's loss at Tottenham.
Ferguson was pleased to again be playing Premier League football after two months away and wants to continue his development.
But the 20-year-old does not have the best of records having featured in the loss at Carrow Road and the hammering at White Hart Lane.
And Ferguson told the
Chronicle: "Everyone's gutted.
"We know we're better than that, but Tottenham have been fantastic. It just shows the amount of quality they have. The first two goals just came so quick.

"We tried to regroup, but Tottenham took their chances whenever they had them. It was difficult to regroup."
He added: "To be fair, in the second half all the lads dug deep and gave their all. We didn't want them to make it any worse. It was good to get on for more experience.
"The manager had faith in me and put me on, which was good, but the result was disappointing."
Ferguson, who was wanted by West Ham on loan, will now hope to have done enough to be involved in Newcastle's next match against Wolves on 25th February.
He said: "I just want to show people what I can do, and push my way into the team as much as I can.
"Hopefully, I can stay involved. I've got to work hard in training, and try and get a couple more appearances under my belt."
