Midfielder putting finishing touches to four-year deal

Skysports.com understands Newcastle are poised to sign former Everton youngster Dan Gosling in the next 24 hours. As exclusively revealed by skysports.com at the start of July, Newcastle were lining up a shock move for Gosling following a contract wrangle at Everton. Gosling and his representatives are on Tyneside to put the finishing touches to his move to St James' Park. The England Under-21 international arrives at Newcastle on a four-year deal after leaving Everton on a free transfer earlier this summer. The Premier League ruled earlier this month Gosling was free to leave Goodison Park after the former Plymouth youngster was not given a new contract offer in writing. Everton claimed they offered Gosling a rise verbally, but nothing was sent to him by the due date and he was allowed to leave for nothing. Gosling, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, is set to become Newcastle's second signing of the summer following the arrival of James Perch from Nottingham Forest.
