Manchester City coach happy at Eastlands

Manchester City coach Derek Fazackerley insists he has not been approached by Kevin Keegan to rejoin him at Newcastle United. Fazackerley has worked as Keegan's assistant during his first stint as Magpies boss, at City and with England. Keegan's reappointment on Tyneside has led to reports that Fazackerley could soon be heading to the North East. But the former Blackburn Rovers defender has denied that he has had any contact with Keegan about rejoining him at St James' Park. "I have not been offered a job at Newcastle," Fazackerley told the Manchester Evening News.

Hire and fire

"Kevin is not the sort of bloke to go into a new job and hire and fire immediately. He will let the coaches up there have a crack at things and will then make his mind up. "I haven't spoken to him about a job. What has been written and said is just pure speculation based on our previous working relationships with Newcastle, City and England. People forget that I didn't work with him at Fulham. "In any case, I am very happy at City to have been given the opportunity by Sven to get back out on the training ground and show what I can do, and hopefully he has been pleased with my input."
