Christian Benteke was left disappointed after his stunning hat-trick against Queens Park Rangers failed to yield three points for Aston Villa.
Benteke struck twice in the first half to give his side a 2-1 lead at the interval, before he salvaged a draw when he made it 3-3 with an exquisite free-kick after Clint Hill and Charlie Austin had put Villa's relegations rivals in the driving seat.
And, while being pleased with his overall performance, the Belgian believes Villa were unfortunate not to claim the three points against a QPR side he felt were more efficient in front of goal.
“I wanted more [from the game]. It’s always nice to score a hat-trick but it just a shame because we didn’t get the three points,” he told Sky Sports.
“Today we deserved three points, we were better than them but they were more efficient than us because they got three chances and scored each of them.
“I’m happy [with my second goal], it was success for me. I was good in my game. I wanted to try the free-kick and everything was positive for me tonight.”
Villa take on Tim Sherwood’s former side Tottenham in their next Premier League game, before a trip to Manchester City and an FA Cup semi-final.
And Benteke insisted his side would do everything in their power to ensure the season ended in a positive note for the club.
“The situation is hard, every point is going to be crucial so we need to keep fighting until the end,” he added.
“Every game in England is hard, we are going to fight until the end and hopefully we will be safe.”
