Bulgarian to support his team-mates against Chelsea

Stiliyan Petrov will attend Aston Villa's home clash with Chelsea just 24 hours after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia. Petrov's condition was diagnosed following tests after the Bulgaria international developed a fever following last Saturday's defeat to Arsenal. News of the former Celtic player's condition shocked the football world with messages of support flooding in for the 32-year-old. Despite the devastating news, Petrov is determined to show his support for his team-mates and will be in attendance at Villa Park for the game with Chelsea. The home fans are expected to pay a special tribute to their captain before the game and have planned a 19th-minute ovation during the match in recognition of Petrov and his shirt number 19. Petrov is set to begin treatment on his condition on Monday at a London specialist hospital.
