Peruvian back in England after Colchester approach

Former Newcastle and Aston Villa midfielder Nolberto Solano expects to sign for Colchester United in the next few days. The 35-year-old flew to England over the weekend expecting to thrash out a deal which will see him join the League One outfit for an initial six months. Peruvian Solano, who also played for West Ham, is fresh from helping homeland club Universitario win the nation's top division last month, and believes he has a long-term future in the English game. "I'm going for six months to play for Colchester United," Solano told news website El Comercio. "Talks are already at an advanced stage and I'm travelling to complete the deal. "It's a lovely opportunity at 35 years of age to still be considered. My plan is to end my career as a coach and look for work there (England). "If I can play another year so much the better," he added. Colchester United finished 12th in League One last season, but have promotion aspirations this term and currently occupy fourth place in the table.
