Ulises delighted with Villa start

ULISES DE LA CRUZ has been delighted at his start in English football, and believes that he will speedily adjust to the quicker pace.

De la Cruz arrived at Villa from Hibernian in the summer, and has already begun to win over the Villan fans with his attitude.

"This is the best league in the world and I am very pleased to be able to play in it," enthused the Ecuadorian international.

"The game here is quick and I have always preferred a fast paced game so I think I will adapt quickly.

"It's going to be great to have the chance to play against teams like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, just to name a few, because they have brilliant players.

"I am also very happy to have arrived at a club like Aston Villa because they have very good players that are hungry for glory.

"But I don't just want to be remembered as a good footballer - also as a good person."

De la Cruz is aware that Scotland served as a perfect springboard to his career.

"I think that having the chance to play against the likes of Celtic and Rangers helped me because they are two clubs as big and important as any in Britain.

"So, thanks to that, teams from England showed interest in me and that how I am here.

"I must thank Hibernian because they made the transfer possible.

"Scottish football is good but there are more talented footballers in England, and that will help me to improve.

"I mean that there are greater numbers of quality players, not players of better quality - because there are some great players in Scotland."
