Terriers chief denies Clarke bid

EXCLUSIVE
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have denied that they have received an offer from Premiership outfit Aston Villa for defender Nathan Clarke.

Reports in England claim that The Villans had made an offer reaching up to £3.5million for the youngster, but Terriers chairman David Taylor told planetfootball.com that no offer was received from the Villa Park side.

Taylor said: "We have received no offer from Villa or any club and even if we did, it would have to be a substantial offer for Nathan (Clarke).

"We are looking to build the team around players like Nathan so any offer we would receive, if we were to receive one, would have to be a large amount."

Lou Macari's (pictured) side finished this last season in the play-offs in Division Two and missed out on the final in Cardiff, after losing to Brentford at the semi-final stage.

Despite not reaching the Millenium Stadium final, The Terriers will look to improve on their sixth place showing this last season in next year's campaign.
