Baniyas midfielder Amer Abdulrahman is set to go on trial at Blackburn Rovers, the UAE club have confirmed.
Rovers boss Gary Bowyer had previously dismissed reports suggesting that the 24-year would move to Ewood Park on a season-long loan, saying that he would need to take a closer look at the player first.
However, Baniyas spokesperson Khaled Al Junaibi says that the UAE international will now be flying to England with a view to earning a deal should he impress.
"It is not a contract offer or transfer but to attend a trial similar to Omar Abdulrahman of Al Ain underwent at Manchester City last year," he explained to The National.
"The club believes it will be good experience for Amer, the learning curve and the opportunity to train alongside some top notch professionals in English conditions.
"For the time being, we are treating it as an experience for the player. However, should he impress Blackburn Rovers and if a formal offer is made to us, the club will take it forward from there onwards."
The midfielder, who has spent his entire career at Baniyas, also admitted that he was delighted to have been given the opportunity to make his mark in English football.
"I am overjoyed," Abdulrahman told Gulf News.
"It could be the realisation of one of my biggest dreams. I cannot talk much now but let us wait and see what happens."
