Bradley Orr claims to have seen enough during his short time at Blackburn to suggest that the club are capable of preserving their top-flight status.
The full-back moved to Ewood Park on transfer deadline day from Queens Park Rangers, with a lack of opportunities at Loftus Road having left him frustrated.
He was forced to watch on in midweek as Rovers suffered a 2-0 defeat at home by Newcastle to remain inside the Premier League drop zone and two points adrift of safety.
Orr is, however, optimistic regarding the club's survival chances and is hoping he can play a leading role in their efforts to clamber out of the bottom three.
He said: "It's really exciting. It's a very good opportunity for me to come to such a great club like Blackburn.
"After watching the lads perform it's even more exciting because I thought they played really well and were really unfortunate not to get a win, never mind a result. It's a great new chapter for me and something I want to grab with both hands.
"When I look around the dressing room I see some excellent talent, experience blended with youth, and I'm very optimistic about the remainder of the season. Hopefully I can add to that."
Frustration
Orr was one of three January arrivals at Ewood Park, with Marcus Olsson and Anthony Modeste having also linked up with Blackburn.
Rovers supporters were hoping for more high-profile additions, but manager Steve Kean says he was left frustrated in his efforts to bring further bodies on board.
"We tried," he said.
"I found it a frustrating window because when you go to clubs and ask for their better players, they don't want to let them go, just like we resisted.
"We tried a number of times to get Premier League experience, we spoke to a lot of clubs and we just couldn't manage to get people in."
