Blackburn boss Steve Kean has hailed the show of support by the club's owners in handing him a new contract.
Kean was given a pay rise by Venky's, it was announced this week, despite leading second-bottom Rovers to only one Premier League win this term.
A section of vocal Rovers fans have protested against the Scot's management at a number of matches this season and are angry that he has been rewarded for his work.
But Kean cannot understand why supporters may think he was fortunate to be given improved terms.
Backing
He said: "The length of the contract is the same.
"I'm just delighted the owners have backed me and the players are totally behind what we are trying to do.
"I'm happy now to move on and piece together what we are trying to do."
Now the Rovers manager is determined to tie down prized asset Junior Hoilett after sorting out his own contract.
The 21-year-old forward, who has been a shining light in Blackburn's dismal campaign, has reportedly caught the eye of north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
Desperate
Kean flew out to Hoilett's homeland Canada to speak to his parents in the hope of securing his signature.
He said: "What we have to do as a club is make him a good contract offer and I think we have done that.
"His parents and representatives are speaking with the directors on a daily basis so hopefully they can push it over the line.
"The boy is desperate to sign."
