Aussie offended by Reds' boss comments

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Vince Grella has defended the club's style of play in the wake of Rafa Benitez's critical comments. The Liverpool boss was unhappy with Rovers' over-physical nature and long-ball tactics in The Reds' 2-1 victory at Anfield. The Australia international, who spent a number of years playing in Italy, has labelled Benitez's long-ball claims as offensive. However, the 30-year-old admits being on the end of criticism is part and parcel of the game and that you have to get on with it. Grella believes Rovers played well on Merseyside and that Liverpool's players were eager to get off the pitch following the tough encounter.

Offensive

"I've played football in Italy for a long time and to be labelled a long-ball specialist was a little bit offensive," he told Sky Sports News. "But it's part of football. You've got to have thick skin. "I'm a little bit disappointed. I thought we had a great game against Liverpool. "I've seen it in Liverpool's players' eyes that it was a tough game for them and they couldn't wait for the final whistle."
