Rovers midfielder issues survival plea ahead of Tigers tussle

Vince Grella has warned his Blackburn team-mates not to let Premier League survival slip through their fingers. The Australian defensive midfielder claims his fellow Rovers players need to understand the honour of playing in England's top-flight. But the 29-year-old summer signing, whose side travel to Hull City in a vital clash on Sunday, believes boss Sam Allardyce is gearing his squad for safety. "Apart from our livelihoods, it is the prestige of being in the Premier League that is at stake at the moment," Grella told the Daily Star. "It is one of the top leagues in the world and we want to be in it.

Dream

"It is every player's dream to be playing in the Premier League and there is no way we can let that opportunity slip from our grasp. "You have to know where you are in the league because if you are down there, there is something going wrong. You can't just shut it out and forget it. "It is about knowing what the problem is, trying to fix it and start fixing it as well. "It is not such an easy equation but we are working very hard with the new manager." Grella insists the disappointment of defeat affects the players as much as the supporters, but the former Torino man is confident that Rovers can turn their season around. "It does hurt the players as much as anyone else. As a footballer you always want to be the best and on top of your game and that does not happen when results don't come. You are obviously not happy.
Fix
"But we can fix it, we have to keep working on our game and I think keeping up the consistency and the good play. "I think sometimes we have played well in bits and pieces during games. "But we have to keep that consistency up to score and create chances and put the opposition under pressure. "The results have been okay, but we can work on it and get better. "We all know that and we are doing everything we can to get out of the situation."
