Villa boss says there was no contact from other clubs

Martin O'Neill has dismissed Thomas Sorensen's claims that he tried to 'destroy' the goalkeeper's Aston Villa career. Sorensen left Villa Park over the summer when his contract expired and eventually signed for Premier League new boys Stoke City. The Denmark international did not play a first-team game during his final season at Villa and criticised O'Neill over the weekend. The former Sunderland shot-stopper stated that Blackburn, Manchester City and Middlesbrough had all shown an interest in a deal.

Complete fabrication

He also suggested that O'Neill did not want him to join another top-flight club, despite his lack of opportunities at Villa Park. However, O'Neill has brushed off the reports and insists there were no approaches from any other teams for the 32-year-old. "It's a complete fabrication," O'Neill told the club's official website. "No one from the clubs mentioned contacted me at all about Thomas Sorensen."
